Protection against debit or credit card fraud is an important issue

What exactly is debit or credit card fraud? Credit card fraud is a form of theft where someone else makes a payment or cash withdrawal from your card account. If this goes unnoticed, you could end up with large bills. But don't worry, there are a few tips you can take to protect yourself from big trouble and make life harder for criminals in just a few steps.

First things first: Check your online banking account regularly and review your latest transactions. In your king+ app from Card Compact, you can activate notifications for all purchases, direct debits or withdrawals - so you always know what's happening with your money.

If you notice any unusual transactions, change your password and PIN immediately. You can do this quickly and easily in your king+ app from Card Compact. You can also easily block your card there to ensure that it is not used for further unauthorised transactions. Blocking costs you nothing! After blocking, you should still keep an eye on your card transactions.

Another tip is that you should never keep your PIN near your card. This makes it easy for criminals to use your card and in case of misuse you can be accused of gross negligence. Anyone who acts with gross negligence or intent must be liable for the damage caused.

If your card is stolen, please inform the police and your bank immediately. You can block a king+ card yourself in real time in the king+ app. The same applies if the card has not been stolen but you notice conspicuous transactions. Important: Document everything. Write down the day of the theft and the day the card was blocked. Please make the claim as soon as possible!

In general, you should never send your credit card data unsecured via SMS or email. These data alone are often enough to enable a fraudster to pay online with your card. That is why we at Card Compact have set up the so-called "3-D Secure" procedure. With this security procedure, you must first personally confirm transactions on the Internet with your biometric data (Face ID or Touch ID) in the app so that no fraudulent debits occur.

With Card Compact, your safety always comes first.
